The Story Machine, a novel planner for writers

The best tools are created from need. I'm the creator of The Story Machine, but I'm also a writer.

I constantly searched for a writer's planner that would help me write my novel, and would occasionally fall for a pretty cover, but in the end it would just be one more thing I bought and didn't use.

They were all redundant and required writing out long answers to stuff I already knew about my book...as if I needed to write more stuff, especially when trying to write a book in 30 days for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).

Plus, they didn't help at all with the things with which I needed the most help: developing strong, well-paced but non-formulaic chapter, plot structuring, keeping all of my chapter summaries in one handy guide, creating depth in all of my characters, weaving side plots seamlessly into the main plot, and understanding the bigger picture of my story.

I never did find one that I was happy with, so I made one. I use it for my own stories, and I've made it so that other writers--aspiring and experienced alike--can use it too.
